Sarinah Isa and Roslan Mohamad was the first couple to perform tonight. They performed the song Kini Bebas by Anuar Zain dan Camelia. I thought it was really coincidental that two weeks’ back, I wrote that Roslan Mohamad’s voice was somewhat similar to Anuar Zain’s. To be honest, Roslan was good. His level of confidence was higher tonight and voice control was simply superb. He complements Sarinah’s voice well. As for Sarinah, I have already fallen in love with her voice but when I watched her performance, in visual terms, she was still fidgeting through also. This fidgeting was affecting her singing and that is really bad. After watching all her performances since the first episode, I noticed that she was insecure about something. If only she can overcome that insecurity, Sarinah Isa can be great.
Second couple performance by Shakillah and Kassreeal Alfi gave me goosebumps throughout their performance. Another picture perfect couple and singing wise, I think their voices’ complemented each other’s well. Again, Shakillah blew me away with her big voice. Tonight, she seemed very confident, a huge difference from two weeks’ back. Applause for her. As for Kassreeal Alfi, like I mentioned in my past review, he has his own style. But since he is still starting in the music industry, he needs to showcase to the judges and to the audience that he can carry other styles too. When he has achieved success and recognition in the music industry, only then can he adopt his own unique style and be known for it.
silentvisual adds: I had the opportunity to bump into Shakillah at Bukit Gombak MRT Station after my bike practical. At first I wasn’t so sure if it was her, but when I looked at her hairstyle, confirm dier nye! There was a Chinese lady with a baby sitting beside her and she playfully teased the baby. It showed me that she was a very friendly person, a character that an entertainer should have. (: Menang vote aku.. lol..
Next couple performance was Nurun Nuwwarah and Aliff Aziz. These two combined together gave us an almost perfect performance. Nurun, the diva in the making and Aliff, the one with so much potential. For now, I see that Nurun has been giving very consistent improvements in her performances which has impressed the judges and I’m sure the audience also. For now, I can see her well in the finals, unless someone else improves and beat her to it. Aliff Aziz, the 16-year old singing potential. Superb falsetto, like the judges mentioned. However, again I feel that Aliff still has much to learn to bring out his true potential. In all, this couple combination was excellent.
Last couple performance by Siti Hanah and Harman was disastrous on Harman’s part. I was cringing in pain just listening to him. Probably, the key was too low for him. Poor voice control and everything else but I can tell that he gave his best and that’s the kind of effort you want to see in the Anugerettes. Siti Hanah has improved alot from two weeks’ back. Simply superb but also, she can further improve on her confidence and stage presence side.
For the group performance, the guys had performed the song “Kau Ratnaku” by Roy, which happend to be one of my favourite song. I had crossed my fingers hoping the guys wouldn’t kill the song and thankfully they didn’t. This performance also continue to place my hopes for Roslan Mohamad to make it through to the next round. He really has the voice. I really wish to see him in the finals. Harman saved himself with this song. Hopefully, he will be able to garner enough votes to save him from being eliminated. Just two words of advice to Kassreeal: look up. Listen to the judges because they are still contributing 50% of the results marks.
Final group performance by the girls. Ikan di laut asam di darat sang by Adibah Noor. Daun yang hijau banyak yang gugur. Memang betul Eddy Ali kata bahawa banyak nota-nota yang berguguran juga. This song was obviously too low in key for the girls. Even Shakillah and Siti Hanah were stumbling with their low notes. In my opinion, Sarinah did the best in this song. But in all, what impressed me was that all four of them gave their best, even though Sarinah Isa was still a tiny bit nervous. Honestly, Sarinah has a great voice but she should focus more on her singing, show all of us what true potentials lie within it. Also, I enjoy watching Shakillah perform on stage. She was brimming with confidence and she looked adorable, which I’m sure will garner enough votes from the male audience.
Final words for this episode are all the Anugerettes tonight did one hell of an excellent job but Nurun Nuwwarah gave her utmost best. And again I say that this group has more talents than group A. If the voters choose looks over talent, this competition is pretty much useless.
